Preschool Meet the Teacher Day

Today I got to meet my preschoolers!  I'm so excited on Monday I start the school year off with twelve four and five year olds!  My class will have nine boys and three girls.

Today I met the kids, several of them I knew from working as a teacher's aide last year.  The preschool is a great outreach for the church. About sixty percent of the students are from the neighborhoods around the congregation.  It's such a great opportunity, these families are relying on us to teach and care for their children and allowing us to teach them the Bible!

Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Luke 18:16

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!

Happy 33rd birthday to our sweet Frankie! She woke up to her favorite breakfast or pancakes and bacon.  Next was a bed full of gifts for a very excited little girl.  She was thrilled when she opened up tickets to see Hanson!

Hanson was her first concert when she was thirteen and we took Frankie and Alicia to see them.  She was just as excited this morning to open up those tickets!

The Gungans met up with us for lunch to enjoy her day!  We had a great time together. We closed out her day with cake and ice cream.

You shall eat before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your households, in all that you undertake, in which the Lord your God has blessed you.  Dueteronomy 12:7

A Time to Laugh

After classes today Abigail, Gracie and a few other friends met up for dinner tonight.  The girls are getting into the swing of their senior year and catching up on all the fun they had this summer.  Between jobs, church camp and sports the summer went by quickly and now it's time to get back into the grove of school.

P.S. Aren't they cute!

Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”  Psalm 126:2

First Day of School

Today was the first day of dual credit classes for Abigail at Collin College.  This semester she's taking Business & Technical Writing; Introduction to Humanities; and Introduction to Political Science.  She's stacked her classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This morning Frankie and I were planning to head out for haircuts and a fun girls day when Frankie realized that Abigail left her lunch in the fridge.  We ran up to the school and Frankie made sure the little girl wouldn't starve today!

Once that was taken care of Frankie and I headed out for her new hair do! She loves her hair short, mission accomplished!

Meet the Teacher

This makes me smile.  This is the picture Abigail took and posted as her Meet the Teacher Day!  We decided there was no need to start school as long as Caleb was home so we waited.  This makes seventeen years of homeschooling between the three kids and the final year of teaching at home for me!

I'm definitely going to enjoy every minute of this last year together!

First Day of School

The boys sent me this picture this morning.  It't the fourth year of their 'First Day of School' picture next to the LCU Chap!

The boy has nineteen hours this semester plus he's tutoring Algebra and Hermeneutics; plus he is Vice President for his club; plus he is on Student Council; plus he's in the Honor's Program; and he's part of the Ambassador Program.  He is one crazy busy young man but he wouldn't have it any other way!

I know these two will have a great school year and both will finish strong their senior year!

LCU Bound

Just like that, summer is over and Caleb is headed back to Lubbock Christian University for his senior year!  I don't even know how that's possible!  We are so very proud of him and ever so grateful that he had the opportunity to do his internship at home this summer!

He was able to work with such great mentors at the Church of Christ on McDermott Road.  Plus he was home with the girls who missed him so much when he traveled abroad last summer. I'm going to miss him and I know Jon will miss have the extra testosterone in the house! Godspeed young man!

Sunday Selfies

When Caleb took off for Lubbock Christian University three years ago we started sending each other Sunday Selfies.  Attending church services and worshiping God is the best thing we do together all week and it was what I missed the most about him leaving.  The selfie just served as a reminder that even though we were a part we were still together in the body of Christ.

Our Sunday Selfie text group grew to include Richard and his wife, the Gungans, and the Lowes. Every Sunday we all check in with our selfie on the way to church.   These are some of the fun pictures we texted to our friends on Sunday this summer.

Over the Red River . . .

Before Caleb heads back to Lubbock we made a day trip to Oklahoma to see Granny and Donnie.  There we even lunch with a few of the 'old cousins.' It was a quick trip but long over due!

I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are and that he may encourage your hearts Colossians 4:8

My Motorcycle Riding Preacher Man

At the end of June when Caleb turned 21 and we asked what he would like for his birthday he said he wanted to know how to drive a motorcycle.  Jon, my Dad, and my Granddad all rode motorcycles and this was a skill Caleb wanted.  He's very much his father's son and if there is something he doesn't know how to do he wants that knowledge.

Caleb took an online course with the rules of the road for cycles and then took two days of riding lessons at the Harley Davidson store in Dallas.  He had a great time and at the end of the class the owner of the store asked Caleb if he would like a job!  Apparently he was enamored with the idea of a motorcycle riding preacher man! Caleb said the two had several really great conversations!

Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.  Ecclesiastes 11:9

Pooh or Possible?!

This makes me smile!  We decided to take in a movie this morning, after all Caleb and Abigail didn't have to work so we should go play.  There were two movies playing at: Christopher Robin and Mission Impossible.  The girls and I went in our Winnie the Pooh shirts so you would think we were headed to see Christopher Robing, right?!

We voted and it was 3 to 1 in favor of Mission Impossible.  Who doesn't love Tom Cruise in a good action film and let's face it, Mission Impossible is Tom Cruise at his finest.  We may be back later for Christopher Robin, but I highly recommend Mission Impossible Fallout!

Farewell to the Interns

Summer is quickly coming to an end and school will be starting back up soon.  With that in mind the McDermott congregation said goodbye to the interns. After the reception our two sweet ministers and their spouses treated us to a delicious dinner.

Wes and Mark have been so gracious to Caleb this summer.  They made it possible for him to preach and teach at McDermott.  He also traveled to South Texas and Estonia.  Caleb has loved his time with these amazing Godly men!

Wedding Bells

While I was in Oklahoma this week, Caleb headed  south the San Antonio for Scotty and Melinda's wedding.  Scotty was a Biblical Text and Preaching major with Caleb at LCU who graduated this spring.  It is a fun season in life!

Road Trip

This week Mom had surgery.  I was blessed to be able to take the week off and spend time with her in the hospital.  The visit wasn't quite as adventurous as my last visit to Tulsa but it was still good to be together.

She'e doing well but will have home health care to help her for the next two months until she's healed.

So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.  Matthew 6:34
