Today about fifty
of our home school friends with PEACH met up at the Dallas World Aquarium for a
little hands-on science.
The aquarium is
located in the Dallas historic West End District. The aquarium is located in an old 1924
warehouse that was gutted and rebuilt in 1992. Adjacent warehouses were
purchased and built out in 2000 & 2004.
The upper level
of the aquarium is a Rainforest with birds such as the scarlet ibis and toucans
flying around. As you wind your way through the rainforest there are three-toed
sloths and monkeys. Today one of the
sloths was very active and the kids took several great pictures. That area also has electric eels, tamarins,
crocodiles and vampire bats.
The lower level
of the aquarium has the sea anemones, coral, and jellyfish from around the
world, with large tanks dedicated to habitats from around the world. The lowest level has the manatee and sharks,
always a favorite spot for photos!
Let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!
