Thriving in the Snow

On the first Monday of the month our church family heads to McKinney to pass out fresh fruits and vegetables, even if it's snowing!   Today was the coldest day we've been outside serving.  Earlier in the morning when I saw the freezing temperatures and the impending snow I worried about us having enough volunteers today.   But my church family  proved me wrong.  Every volunteer that signed up came out today and even some that hadn't signed up came out just in case they were needed.

Over our two hours at the park we were able to serve one hundred and forty individuals!  It snowed the whole time we were there but we stayed warm!  One of our volunteers brought hand warmers for everyone.  Another volunteer brought hot chocolate for everyone.  Another volunteer pulled his SUV up and kept it running and warm for us to warm up inside.  It was a great day serving!

There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land. Deuteronomy 15:11
