Back in Oklahoma, Jon and I began a Timothy and Tabitha class for the middle and high school youth at the Owasso Church of Christ. Jon worked with the young men and I taught the young ladies how to serve and to lead as these two individuals did in scripture.
At the McDermott congregation they have a Timothy and Tabitha program for the 3rd through 5th graders. The young me learn how to lead congregational prayers, read scripture, lead singing and deliver the Lord's message.
The young ladies learn to teach Bible class and serve others just like the Biblical example of Tabitha given in scripture.
After three moths of class time and preparation, tonight the young men led service just as we see Timothy, Paul & Peter leading in the New Testament. The young men, many of them my Bible Bowl guys, did a fantastic job.
I have so many great memories of doing the Tabitha program with Frankie and her peers at Owasso. My favorite memories include teaching the girls to teach Bible class, decorate bulletin boards, making flip charts, and how to navigate the equipment in the teachers supply room. We also worked on how to minister to those who were ill, grieving or elderly.
I also loved watch Caleb go through the Timothy class at McDermott and leading in worship. Such a blessing to see witness and know that these young people will soon be serving in the Lord's work.
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 1 Timothy 2:11-12
