Our fabulous church family hosted their first Family Conference. It was an incredibly informative seminar for parents and grandparents of all ages. The theme for the day was "Intentionality: Living as Kingdom Families."
The day kicked off with keynote speaker, Robert Ogelsby Jr., Director of Youth and Family Ministry at Abilene Christian University speaking on Living a Deuteronomy 6 Life. The afternoon keynote was McDermott's own Wes McAdams speaking on 'Raising Your Kids in a Performance Driving World.'
There were other great classes to choose from during the day with the following classes:
- Intentional About Media and Technology
- Developing a God-Honoring Family Schedule
- How to Talk to Your Kids in a Christlike Way
- Living Out Your Faith in a Way That Impacts Your Children
While the adults attended classes there were activities and classes for infants through 5th graders. High School aged McDermott kids took care of the younger kids classes. Abigail and Frankie worked with the 1st-3rd grade classes. Jon and I peaked in at lunch to check on the class having a good time singing songs and playing games with the girls.
I'm looking forward to next year's conference January 19, 2019!
You may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long. Deuteronomy 6:2
