April Fools Fun

April Fools Day is always a fun day, today the youngest filled the coffee dispensers at Metro Relief with strawberry/orange Kool-Aid. Our guests were a little surprised, so were the other volunteers that depend on caffeine in the mornings.

 

Abigail and Frankie also wore their Minnie’s Food Pantry shirts and welcomed everyone to ‘Minnie’s.’ 

 

I may have finished up the day by short sheeting their beds, after they spent the whole day waiting to see what mom would do.

April Fools 2014

Sissy LOVES April 1st!!! She loves the fun.  We try to avoid mean or harmful pranks, just fun silliness! Today we have found nail polish 'spilled' on one of our math books!  

Last night Abigail took a potato and wrote, "HELP, ME!" on the bathroom mirror.  The message showed up when Sis showered and the bathroom was all steamy.  Next , Sis proceeded to the down stairs bath room to find a note on the mirror that read, "Mirror out or order!  Do not use!".  She just giggled, and proceeded getting ready, never removing the note! 

At breakfast I put a few drops of blue food coloring under the instant dry oatmeal, so that when hot water was added their oatmeal turned blue.  

At lunch Frankie was very skeptical about lunch.  She carefully inspected her pasta for surprise.  Only the surprise was that her Kool-aid was actually Jell-O!  

After school the kids delivered a tray of brownies to the Gungans.  Only it was a tray of brown letter E's! We may owe them a real pan of brownies now!  

We finished up the day with a word seek and find of animal names that Abigail printed off for Frankie, except none of the words were actually in the puzzle!   Whew, what a busy, silly day!

April Fools

Several years ago I had a brilliant idea for an April Fools joke on the kids. Every year since the kids have looked forward to what Mom would do next! This year April Fools falls on the day we are driving up to Oklahoma Christian University for the National Bible Bowl Competition. Like every road trip, I have a little cooler packed and at some point we will stop for a picnic. However, they are in for a surprise. I have packed 'fishsticks' and 'peas and carrots' for lunch, with one tiny twist!

The fish sticks are sugar wafer cookies that I coated with peanut butter and then rolled in smashed corn flakes. The 'peas and carrots' are green mini-gobstopper candies and orange Starbursts that have been quartered!

Now shhh, they suspect nothing!!!! I'll post pictures of their reactions later today. Abigail has already gotten in the April Fools spirit by calling her friends (at 7:45am) and telling them there was a fire at OCU and National's has been postponed indefinitely!!! Heheheh!

April Fools

We love April Fools jokes at our house. Each year I pull of some prank on the kids. It is getting tougher to pull off pranks as they get older. They love this day and know that Mom will do something! This year I asked Jon to pull off all the vowels on Caleb and Abigail's keyboards and re-arrange them. Both keyboards needed to be identical so they would not suspect foul play.

After Ancient Civilizations class the kid do keyboarding class. I sent them to their computers like usual. Pretty soon you start hearing 'hey!' & 'when I push the A it makes an E and when I push the E it make an I!' I play along for awhile before you hear, 'Moooommmmm, you did this!' To which I gleefully reply, 'April Fools!' It's good to be the Mom!

April Fools

Last year for April Fool's we had Ostrich Eggs for breakfast (cool whip with 1/2 of a canned peach on top). So this year, I needed something not so obvious. I took the water bottle apart in the school room and put a rubber ducky in it. When the kids noticed the duck, I questioned who had put the duck in the water bottle. We spent time off and on through the day, trying to figure out who did it. Caleb and Abigail even took the water jug off and used salad tongs to remove the duck, and looked for finger prints. At one point they called Roy's house to see if he was the culprit when he came over Sunday. At dinner, I confessed to the hoax!!
