Abigail and I joined the ladies sewing group at church for several hours of service at Healing Hands International (HHI). HHI is a ministry of the churches of Christ.
Since our beginning in 1991, Healing Hands International has delivered more than $100 million in aid to more than 75 countries around the world. They send medical supplies and aid, and also drill water wells and train community leaders in Food Sustainability.
They are rebuilding an orphanage in Haiti, training African women in business skills and growing techniques, delivering thousands of Christmas presents each year, and continuing Disaster Recovery efforts in Haiti and Japan.
Abigail and I worked on sewing products for women and children in Uganda. Part of time was spent sewing and stuffing teddy bears for the children as well as menstrual pads for young women. It's such a different world than where we live!
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to do it.
Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again,
tomorrow I will give it”—when you have it with you.
Proverbs 3:27-28
