The alarm went off at 4:45 this morning! Abigail and I had to be at the polling place at six o'clock to connect and daisy chain the electronic booths. Last night we set up the paper ballot stations and tables but all electronic equipment remained sealed and closed until this morning.
Once we opened up all the equipment and got set up, we ran reports to verify that no ballots had been cast. At this precinct we had ten paper stations and two electronic stations. In Denton county approximately 50% of the registered voters participated in early voting. So despite this being a big election day across the country, today could still be light.
We opened the doors up at seven to a line of eager voters. We ran steady all day long, but not too busy. Twelve hours after opening the doors, the sheriff closed out doors. He stayed with us until the equipment was locked up and sealed. He then escorted our precinct judge back to the county chair for final tabulation and we headed home to watch the returns!
